Import Media into the Video Editor

Bring highlights, images, videos, transitions, graphics and audio into the Video Editor using Import Media, filters and the Queue tab.

Before you can build an edit, you need to bring your media into the Video Editor. This article shows you how to use Import Media to find highlights, images, videos and more, pick several items at once and drop them straight onto your timeline.

Before you start

  • Open the Video Editor with the project you want to work on.

  • Make sure the media you want already exists in your account. Highlights come from your matches (Highlights needs the Streaming module), and images, videos and audio are uploaded and managed in the Multimedia tab.

  • If you want media to land at a specific spot, move the playhead there and select the track you want to use before you import.

Find your media types

Down the left side of the Video Editor you'll see your media types. Each one holds a different kind of content you can add to your edit:

  • Highlights: clips created from your matches, such as goals or key moments from Harbour City (HCF) v Ridgeview (RVR).

  • Images: logos, sponsor artwork, player photos and other stills.

  • Videos: video files you've uploaded, like intros, promos or match recordings.

  • Transitions: animated wipes and stings to place between clips.

  • Graphics: graphic elements you can layer over your footage.

  • Audio: music beds, sound effects and voiceovers.

Open Import Media

Next to each media type there's a plus button. Click the plus next to the type you want to add, for example Highlights. This opens the Import Media window, starting on that media type.

You don't need to open Import Media separately for every type. Once the window is open, you can move between media types without closing it.

Filter and pick your media

If you have a lot of content, use the filters at the top of Import Media to narrow things down:

  • Competition: show only media from one competition, such as the LIGR Demo League.

  • Match: show only media from a single match.

  • Tags: show only media with particular tags, which is handy for finding all your goals or all your sponsor assets.

When you've found what you need, click each item you want to add. Every item you click is added to your selection. You can then switch to another tab, such as Images or Audio, and keep picking. Your earlier selections stay in place, so you can gather everything for your edit in one go.

Check your Queue

The Queue tab shows everything you've picked so far, across all media types. Open it before you import to check you have the right clips, images and audio, and that nothing is missing or picked by mistake.

This is a good moment to compare your list against your plan for the edit, especially if you've been switching between several tabs and filters.

Choose where it lands and import

Add at the playhead

If you want your media placed straight onto the timeline, tick Add to the selected track at the playhead. Your media drops onto the track you've selected, right where the playhead is sitting. This saves you dragging items into place one by one.

Import

When you're happy with your Queue, click Import. Your media is brought into the Video Editor and you can start trimming, arranging and styling it.

If you leave the tick box empty, you can still place the imported media on the timeline yourself wherever you like.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Move the playhead and select your track before you open Import Media if you plan to use Add to the selected track at the playhead. Otherwise your media may land somewhere you didn't expect.

  • Use the Match filter when building a single match package. It keeps highlights from other matches out of the way.

  • Tag your media consistently in Multimedia. Good tags make the Tags filter far more useful here.

  • Always glance at the Queue tab before clicking Import. It's quicker to remove a stray item now than to delete it from the timeline later.

  • Can't find an item? Clear your filters, check you're on the right media type tab, and confirm the item has been uploaded or created in Multimedia.
