What are milestone triggers?
Milestone triggers are event-based automation rules that fire when a repeating pattern occurs during a match. Instead of triggering every time a specific event happens, milestone triggers fire after a set number of occurrences — for example, every 3rd card issued, or every 5th substitution made.
These triggers are useful for displaying summary graphics that show accumulated match events without overwhelming the broadcast with graphics after every single occurrence.
When to use milestone triggers
Milestone triggers work best when you want to show summary or aggregate information at regular intervals during a match rather than after every individual event.
Common use cases include:
* Displaying a card summary graphic after every 3rd card to show all cards issued so far
* Showing a substitution summary after every 5th substitution
* Triggering sponsor graphics tied to recurring event milestones
How to set up a milestone trigger
Milestone triggers are configured in the Live gameplay section of your Automated Game Plan.
1. Open your game plan and navigate to the Live gameplay section
2. Create a new event trigger for the event type you want to track (cards, substitutions, etc.)
3. Configure the trigger as a milestone trigger by setting the occurrence pattern (every 3rd, every 5th, etc.)
4. Add the graphics you want to display when the milestone is reached to the playlist
5. Set the display duration for the milestone graphic
6. Test the milestone trigger using the game plan's test or simulation mode to verify it fires at the correct intervals
How milestone triggers work with the priority system
When multiple events occur simultaneously or in quick succession, the priority system determines which graphic displays first. Milestone triggers follow the same priority rules as other event triggers.
Set appropriate priority levels for your milestone triggers to ensure they don't block more critical graphics like goal animations. Milestone graphics typically have lower priority than goals but higher priority than time-based advertising.
Milestone trigger timing recommendations
Keep milestone graphic durations relatively short to avoid blocking other match events. Summary graphics showing accumulated cards or substitutions should typically display for 5-8 seconds.
If multiple milestone patterns are configured for the same event type (for example, every 3rd card and every 6th card), only one will fire at overlapping milestones. The system will trigger the most specific milestone pattern.
