Card and substitution playlists show a graphic automatically whenever a card or a substitution comes through from live scoring. They sit on the In Game (Live) tab of your game plan and fire from the LiveScore app or an external data provider.
Before you start
Set up the Default playlist on In Game (Live) with your scorebug. On Rive themes, a game plan needs a default scorebug for in-play automation to work. See The Default playlist: your scorebug during play.
Make sure the match is scored live, so card and substitution events reach the game plan.
Cards
On In Game (Live), create a playlist, for example Cards.
Open Configure > Trigger Playlists, click Add Live Trigger and choose Red Card from the Trigger event dropdown.
Add live triggers for Yellow Card and Second Yellow Card too, so one playlist handles every card. See Add triggers to a playlist.
Add the action Hide all except scorebug at 00:00. This clears any other graphics but leaves the scorebug up.
Add the scorebug as an Overlay Graphic with the card event shown. On the Advanced tab, set Update Type to Update, so the card animation plays inside the scorebug that's already on air. Keep it on screen for 8 to 10 seconds.
Optional: add the cards lower third. Its Event variable takes the incoming card, so the player and team fill in automatically.
Finish with Hide all except scorebug or Show scorebug, so the scorebug is back on screen when the playlist ends.
In Configure > Show Advanced Options, give the playlist a high priority, below your goal playlist. Priority 1 is the highest, so if goals are 1, cards are usually 2. See Playlist priority and guards explained.
Substitutions
On In Game (Live), create a playlist, for example Substitutions.
In Configure > Trigger Playlists, click Add Live Trigger and choose Substitution.
Add Hide all except scorebug at 00:00.
Add the substitution graphic as an Overlay Graphic. Its Event variable takes the incoming substitution, so the details fill in automatically. Event graphics look best on screen for 8 to 10 seconds. See Set graphic variables, update type and transition guards.
Finish with Hide all except scorebug or Show scorebug.
Set the priority in Configure > Show Advanced Options, keeping goals highest.
Every third card
Milestone triggers fire every Nth time something happens for a team, for example every third yellow card. Create a separate playlist with Hide all except scorebug, the cards lower third as an Update, then back to the scorebug. It adds a bit of variety without changing your normal card playlist. See Using milestone triggers.
Check it works
Use Preview to play the playlist with graphics over the vision. See Preview a playlist.
Use Review Match to load a real match by match ID. Filter by Facts or Milestone, step through with Prev and Next, and check Now Playing shows your card or substitution playlist. See Review a match against your game plan.
Tips and common mistakes
Start with Hide all except scorebug, not Hide all. Hide all clears the scorebug too.
Give every item its own start second. Two transitions on one second can wipe each other, and the app warns you.
Leave about 2 seconds between items so animations finish cleanly. Don't place a hide action exactly on an item's end time, or its out-animation can be cut short.
Watch the icons on your playlists. An orange info icon gives advice, and a red warning icon flags a problem, such as a live playlist that doesn't end by returning to the scorebug. See Playlist warnings and timing tips.
