Create a break playlist

Create a playlist in your Automated Game Plan that runs during breaks such as pre-match, half time or post-match, and choose what triggers it.

Break playlists hold the graphics, ads and multimedia that run when the ball isn't in play, such as before kick-off, at half time or after the final whistle. This article shows you how to create one in your Automated Game Plan and choose exactly when it starts.

Before you start

  • Your organisation needs the Graphics module, because Automation runs graphics on your overlay.

  • You need an Automated Game Plan already created in the Automation tab.

  • Check that your competition has its break lengths set up. These are shown when you choose the period group and help you plan how long your playlist should be.

Create the playlist

  1. Open your game plan from the Automation tab.

  2. Make sure you're on the Pre/Post Match & Breaks tab. Break playlists live here, while in-play playlists sit on the In Game (Live) tab.

  3. Click Create Playlist.

  4. Enter a Playlist Name. Use something that describes when it runs, like Half Time, Pre-Match or Full Time. Clear names make the list much easier to manage once your game plan grows.

  5. Choose the Period Group. The break lengths for the competition are shown just above this field.

  6. Pick a Break Number if you want to target one specific break, or leave it empty to run the playlist at every break in the group.

  7. Choose the Trigger Type: Regular, About To Start, Players Entering or a Time Trigger.

  8. Click Create. The playlist is added to the list, showing its duration and triggers.

A new playlist starts empty. It won't put anything on air until you add items to its timeline, such as overlay graphics, advertisements or multimedia.

Period group and break number

Period Group

The period group tells LIGR Live which part of the match the playlist belongs to. Typical groups are Pregame, Regular (normal time), Extra time and Postgame. The break lengths shown above the field come from your competition settings, so you can see how much time you have to fill. For example, if the LIGR Demo League has a 15 minute half time, aim to keep your Half Time playlist within that window.

Break Number

Break Number is optional. Use it when you want the playlist to run at one particular break only. In football, the first break in the Regular group is half time. If you leave the field empty, the playlist runs at every break in the chosen group, which is handy for content you want repeated, such as a sponsor reel at every break.

Trigger types

The trigger type decides what actually starts the playlist.

  • Regular: runs for the break as a whole. In Pregame, it starts as soon as the match exists, so it's a good choice for content that should be on air from the moment your stream begins.

  • About To Start: starts when About to Start is tapped in the LiveScore app. Use it for build-up graphics just before play begins, such as a Match ID for Harbour City v Ridgeview.

  • Players Entering: starts when Players Entering is tapped in the LiveScore app. Ideal for team line-ups as the players walk out.

  • Time Trigger: starts a set time before the next period, for example 8 minutes before kick-off. This doesn't depend on anyone tapping a button.

Add more triggers later

One playlist can have several triggers. For example, a single About To Start playlist can run before kick-off, before the second half and before extra time. To add one, click Configure on the playlist, open the Trigger playlists tab, click Add Trigger, then set the period group, break number and trigger type. Repeat for each moment you want it to run.

Tips and common mistakes

  • About To Start and Players Entering rely on buttons in the LiveScore app. If your match runs on an external data feed that doesn't send these, use a Time Trigger instead.

  • Leaving Break Number empty by mistake means the playlist runs at every break in the group. Set it if you only want half time.

  • Keep each playlist's duration within the break length shown, so content isn't cut short when play resumes.

  • Remember to add items after creating the playlist, otherwise nothing will appear on air.
