Create a Destination

Set up a streaming destination such as YouTube so your LIGR Live stream knows where to send your match broadcast.

A destination is where your stream goes out to, such as a YouTube channel or another streaming platform. You create a destination once in the Streaming tab, then use it for your matches. This article walks you through adding a new destination step by step.

Before you start

  • Your organisation needs the Streaming module to create and use destinations.

  • Have your platform open in another browser tab. You will need to copy the stream URL (sometimes called the server URL or RTMP URL) and the stream key from your platform's live or streaming settings.

  • It helps to have your team and venue already set up, for example Harbour City (HCF) and LIGR Demo Stadium, so you can link the destination to them.

Create a destination

1. Open Destinations

  1. Click Streaming in the left sidebar.

  2. Open Destinations. You will see a list of any destinations already created for your organisation.

  3. Click Add Destination. A form opens where you enter the destination details.

2. Name it and choose a preset

  1. Enter a name for the destination. Use something clear that tells you the platform and the purpose, such as HCF YouTube Main Channel. This is the name you will pick from later, so a descriptive name saves confusion on match day.

  2. Leave the Push and Program settings as they are. These are set for you. Push means LIGR Live sends the stream out to your platform. Program means the feed includes your graphics, such as the scorebug, lower thirds and ads. This is the right choice for audience-facing broadcasts.

  3. Choose a preset if your platform has one in the list, for example YouTube. A preset fills in the platform's standard settings so you have less to type and fewer chances to make a mistake. If your platform is not listed, you can still enter the details yourself in the next step.

3. Add the stream URL and stream key

  1. In your platform, find the live streaming settings and copy the stream URL.

  2. Paste it into the stream URL field in LIGR Live.

  3. Copy the stream key from your platform and paste it into the stream key field.

Copy and paste rather than typing these values. A single wrong character in the URL or key will stop the platform from accepting your stream. Treat the stream key like a password and do not share it publicly, as anyone with it could stream to your channel.

4. Pick the team and venue, then save

  1. Pick the team this destination belongs to, for example Harbour City (HCF).

  2. Pick the venue, for example LIGR Demo Stadium.

  3. Choose how to save:

  • Create saves the destination to your list. You can then add it to a match stream whenever you need it.

  • Create and Apply to Matches saves the destination and also applies it to matches straight away, so you do not need to add it to each match one by one.

What happens next

Your new destination appears in the Destinations list. Once it is attached to a match stream, it is ready to receive video when you go live. On the Stream Monitor page you can select your destinations and set them live, and stop them again with the red square, without stopping the stream itself.

Each destination shows a status indicator so you can check the connection:

  • Grey: configured but not sending.

  • Yellow: trying to connect.

  • Warning icon with Retry: the connection failed and LIGR Live will keep retrying.

  • Red: connected and streaming to the destination.

Tips and common mistakes

  • If the indicator shows a warning, check the stream URL and stream key first. These are the most common cause of a failed connection.

  • If the indicator is red but nothing shows on your platform, LIGR Live is sending correctly. Check the platform side, such as the live event selected, visibility settings or whether the key has changed.

  • If your graphics are missing on the platform, check the destination is set to Program, not Clean. Clean sends only the video without graphics.

  • Some platforms create a new stream key for each event. If so, update the destination before each match.

  • A destination can only be used by one stream at a time. If you need to send two matches to different channels at once, create a separate destination for each.

  • Do a short test stream before match day to confirm everything connects.
