Overview
Player and lineup settings control whether your match includes player-specific graphics and events, how detailed the player data capture is, and how many players appear in starting lineups and on the bench. These settings are configured when creating a match and determine what data is available for graphics, statistics, and highlights.
Player Settings Toggle
The PLAYERS toggle determines whether player data is included in your match.
* Toggle on PLAYERS if you want player-specific graphics and events
* When enabled, you can assign match events to individual players (goals, cards, substitutions)
* When disabled, you can still track events by team, but not by individual player
* Player data must be configured in the Assets section before the match for player names to appear
Player Event Capture Level
When PLAYERS is toggled on, you can select the level of detail for player event capture:
All player events
Captures every match event and assigns it to specific players. This includes goals, assists, cards, substitutions, shots, passes, tackles, and all other tracked events.
Major only
Captures only major match events and assigns them to players. Major events typically include goals, cards, penalties, and substitutions. Minor events like passes or tackles are not captured.
Team list only
Displays team rosters without capturing player-specific events. Players appear in lineups and graphics, but individual statistics are not tracked.
Starting Lineup Size
Set the number of players in the starting lineup for the sport. This determines how many players appear in the default starting lineup.
Examples:
* Football (soccer): 11 players
* Rugby: 15 players
* Basketball: 5 players
This setting controls the right side of the team's Players tab in Assets, where you configure the default starting lineup.
Max Bench Size
Set the maximum number of substitute players that can be listed on the bench.
Examples:
* Football (soccer): 7 substitutes
* Rugby: 8 substitutes
This setting controls how many players can appear in the default bench lineup on the team's Players tab in Assets.
How These Settings Work Together
Player and lineup settings are pre-configured at the competition level. When you create a match under a competition, these settings auto-fill based on the competition's configuration.
If players are toggled off at the competition level, all new matches under that competition will have players disabled by default. You can still enable players for individual matches by editing the match settings before the match starts.
The starting lineup and bench sizes you configure here determine the default roster structure that appears when you assign players to teams in the Assets section.
When Players Are Enabled
When PLAYERS is toggled on for a match:
* Player names appear in the LiveScore app when capturing match events
* Player-specific graphics display during broadcasts (player names, numbers, photos)
* Match events can be assigned to individual players
* Player statistics are tracked and appear in post-match reports
* Highlights can include player information
When Players Are Disabled
When PLAYERS is toggled off for a match:
* Match events are tracked by team only
* Player names do not appear in the LiveScore app
* Graphics display team information but not individual player details
* You can still create and stream the match
* Lineups and rosters are not required
Connection to Assets
The teams and players that appear when PLAYERS is enabled come from the Assets section. Players must be added to team rosters in Assets before the match begins for their names to appear in match graphics and the LiveScore app.
When importing players using the Import Data Screen, use the dropdown menu to assign the imported players to a team before confirming the import.
Important Notes
Match settings cannot be edited once the match has started. Configure player and lineup settings before starting the match in the LiveScore app or receiving data from an external provider.
These settings are sport-specific. Different sports show different configuration options based on standard roster structures for that sport.
