How to create a player

Learn how to create players individually, from a team's Players tab, or in bulk via CSV import in LIGR Live.

Overview

A player is an individual athlete assigned to a team. Players can be starters (automatically placed in starting lineups) or bench players. Player data appears in broadcast graphics when players are enabled for a match.

You need to create players before they can appear in match lineups or on broadcast graphics. Players can be created from the Players section or directly from a team's Players tab.

How to Create a Player

To create a player, start by clicking Assets in the left-hand dashboard, then select Players. Click the Create a Player button (the red button in the top right) to open the player details form.

Fill out the player details, starting with the player's first name and last name. Next, click Add Team and select the relevant team from the dropdown, then select the position type and enter the graphics position name that will be used in broadcast graphics. Enter the player's number, and toggle Starter on if this player should automatically appear in starting lineups (this applies to sports with starting lineups, such as football).

You can also upload a player photo at this stage: click Upload Photo, then crop, zoom, and edit the image as needed before clicking Save. Once all the details are entered, click Create Player to finish.

How to Create a Player from a Team

You don't need to go to the Players section to add players — you can create them directly from a team instead. Click Assets in the left-hand dashboard, then select Clubs and Teams and choose the team you want to add players to. Click the Players tab, then click Add New Player or Import Players, and follow the same steps as creating a player described above.

The Players tab shows the team's full roster on the left side, and the default starting lineup and default bench lineup on the right side.

Bulk Import Players

If you need to add many players at once, you can import them in bulk. Click Assets in the left-hand dashboard, select Players, and then click Import Players. Download the sample file to see the required format, then upload your CSV file formatted to match the sample.

On the Import Data Screen, use the dropdown menu to assign the imported players to a team before confirming the import. Finally, make sure the players toggle in match settings is turned on for any matches where you want these players to appear.
