How to Record Substitutions

Written by Julian Rodrigues

Recording substitutions in the LiveScore App lets you track player changes during a match so they appear in your live graphics, Match Centre, and Review Page.

Before You Start

Make sure you have the following in place before the match begins:

• The LiveScore App installed on your mobile device

• A Live Scorer (or higher) account with access to the match

• Both teams' lineups confirmed in the app, including starting players and substitutes

• The match opened and in progress

Recording a Substitution

Substitutions are logged as Match Facts, so they sync with the Control Room and any Automated Game Plan set up for the competition.

Steps

1. Open the active match in the LiveScore App.

2. Tap the Substitution event button in the match event menu.

3. Select the team making the substitution.

4. Choose the player coming off from the list of players currently on the field.

5. Choose the player coming on from the list of available substitutes.

6. Confirm the match time if prompted.

7. Tap Save (or Confirm) to record the substitution.

Once saved, the substitution is added to the match timeline and can trigger any associated graphics (such as a substitution lower third) if your Game Plan is configured to play one.

Editing or Deleting a Substitution

If you make a mistake, you can correct it from the match event history.

1. Open the match event list or timeline in the LiveScore App.

2. Find the substitution entry you want to change.

3. Tap the entry to open its details.

4. Edit the players or time, or delete the event entirely.

5. Save your changes.

Tips

• Record substitutions as close to the moment they happen as possible so your live graphics stay in sync with play.

• Double-check the player coming on is selected from the substitutes bench, not the active lineup.

• If multiple substitutions happen at once, record each one separately so each player swap is logged correctly.

• Substitutions recorded here feed directly into the Review Page stats, so accuracy matters for post-match reporting.

Common Issues
