Control Variables let you adjust specific parts of a graphic in real time from the Control Room, giving operators live control over elements like text, colours, toggles, or data fields defined in FUSE.
What Are Control Variables?
Control Variables are user-defined variables built into a graphic template using FUSE, LIGR's advanced graphics editor. Once a Control Variable is added to a graphic, it becomes adjustable from the Control Room during a live match, without having to edit the underlying template.
Common uses include:
• Toggling elements on or off (e.g. showing or hiding a sponsor strip)
• Changing text shown on a lower third
• Switching between colour schemes or visual states
• Adjusting numeric values displayed in a graphic
• Overriding data shown in a scorebug or overlay

Prerequisites
Before you can control a graphic using Control Variables, make sure:
• The graphic template has been built in FUSE with one or more Control Variables defined
• The graphic is part of a Theme Instance assigned to your Competition
• You have access to the Control Room for the Match (via the Production Link)
• Your user role has permission to operate the Control Room (Owner, Admin, User, or Gameday Operator)
Accessing Control Variables in the Control Room
1. Open the Match and launch the Control Room using the Production Link.
2. Locate the graphic you want to control in the graphics list.
3. Select the graphic to open its control panel.
4. If the graphic contains Control Variables, they will appear as editable fields alongside the standard graphic controls.

Adjusting Control Variables Live
Once the Control Variables are visible, you can modify them before or during the graphic being on air.
1. Find the Control Variable you want to change in the graphic's control panel.
2. Update the value using the input type provided (text field, toggle, dropdown, colour picker, or number input).
3. If the graphic is already on air, the update will apply in real time.
4. If the graphic is not yet on air, the new value will be used the next time you trigger it.
Types of Control Variable Inputs
Depending on how the variable was configured in FUSE, you may see:
• Text inputs for custom copy
• Toggles for on/off states
• Dropdowns for choosing between preset options
• Colour pickers for changing graphic colours
• Number inputs for numeric values
Tips
• Test your Control Variables in a rehearsal Match before going live, so you know exactly how each one behaves on air.
• Name your Control Variables clearly in FUSE — operators will see these names in the Control Room.
• Use toggles for quick on-air changes, since they are faster to operate than typing values during a live broadcast.
• If multiple operators are working the same Match, agree in advance who is responsible for adjusting Control Variables.
Common Issues
Control Variables are not showing in the Control Room Check that the graphic template in FUSE has Control Variables defined and that the latest version of the template is published to the Theme Instance assigned to your Competition.
Changes are not reflecting on air Make sure the graphic is live on the output. Some changes only apply when the graphic is next triggered, depending on how the variable is bound in FUSE.
The wrong input type is displayed Return to FUSE and confirm that the Control Variable type (text, toggle, dropdown, etc.) is set correctly in the template.
A Control Variable is missing after a template update If a variable was removed or renamed in FUSE, republish the Theme Instance and refresh the Control Room.
