Connecting an encoder via RTMP lets you send a live video feed from software like OBS or vMix (or a hardware encoder) into LIGR Live as an Input, so you can apply overlays and send the stream on to your Destinations.
Before You Start
Make sure you have the following ready:
• A Match created in LIGR Live that you want to stream into
• Encoder software (such as OBS or vMix) or a hardware encoder installed and configured with your camera and audio sources
• A stable internet connection with enough upload bandwidth for your chosen stream quality
Step 1: Open the Match and Locate the Input Details
Your RTMP connection details are generated per match inside LIGR Live.
1. Click the Matches tab in the left sidebar.
2. Find and open the match you want to stream.
3. Navigate to the streaming area of the match to view the Input settings.

Step 2: Copy the RTMP URL and Stream Key
LIGR Live provides two pieces of information you'll need to paste into your encoder:
• RTMP URL — the server address your encoder will push video to
• Stream Key — a unique key that identifies your Input for this match
Copy both values. Keep your Stream Key private, as anyone with it could send video into your match.

Step 3: Configure Your Encoder
The exact steps vary depending on your encoder, but the fields are the same.
OBS
1. Open Settings in OBS, then go to the Stream section.
2. Set Service to Custom.
3. Paste the RTMP URL from LIGR Live into the Server field.
4. Paste the Stream Key into the Stream Key field.
5. Click OK to save.
vMix
1. Open Stream Settings in vMix.
2. Set the destination type to Custom RTMP Server.
3. Paste the RTMP URL into the URL field.
4. Paste the Stream Key into the Stream Key field.
5. Save the settings.
Hardware Encoders
1. Open your encoder's streaming configuration page.
2. Choose Custom RTMP (or equivalent) as the output.
3. Enter the RTMP URL and Stream Key in the matching fields.
4. Apply and save.

Step 4: Start Streaming from Your Encoder
1. In your encoder, click Start Streaming (or the equivalent start button).
2. Return to the match in LIGR Live and confirm the Input is receiving video.
3. Once the feed is active, you can continue your match setup, apply overlays, and send the stream on to your configured Destinations.
Tips
• Always do a test stream before your live match to confirm the Input is receiving video and your encoder settings are stable.
• Match your encoder's output resolution and frame rate to what you plan to deliver to your Destinations to avoid unnecessary transcoding.
• Use a wired internet connection whenever possible for a more reliable RTMP feed.
• Keep your Stream Key confidential and regenerate it if you believe it has been exposed.
Common Issues
• No video showing in LIGR Live — Double-check that you pasted the RTMP URL and Stream Key into the correct fields in your encoder, with no extra spaces.
• Stream disconnects frequently — This is usually caused by insufficient upload bandwidth. Lower your encoder's bitrate and test again.
• Encoder connects but no preview appears — Confirm your encoder has an active video source selected before starting the stream.
• Wrong match receiving the feed — Each match has its own unique Stream Key. Make sure you copied the key from the correct match.
