Set Up Your Overlay

Fill in Create Overlay field by field: control room, template, stream, name, ad type and Enable Ads, theme profile, Auto Mode and more.

Once you've opened Create Overlay, you set the overlay up one field at a time. These settings decide which control room runs the graphics, which stream they go on, how they look, and whether ads show.

Before you start

  • Open Create Overlay from the match (see Add an Overlay to a Match).

  • You'll need a control room and a theme profile. Most organisations already have a default of each, and they're picked for you.

  • If you want ads, set up your ads in the Ads tab first.

Fill in each field

  1. Control Room: choose the control room that runs this overlay's graphics. The control room holds the sections and graphics your operator uses on match day. A default control room is filled in, and you can pick another from the list.

  2. Overlay Template: a saved set of overlay settings from your competition, so you don't set up every overlay from scratch. Pick one (for example LIGR Demo Default) and its settings are filled in. This is optional. If you don't have templates, leave it blank and set the fields yourself.

  3. For Stream: the stream these graphics go on, such as Main Camera. If the match doesn't have a stream yet, you can leave this and link a stream later with Configure.

  4. Overlay Name: use a name you'll recognise, like Main Feed. The default is New Overlay. A clear name matters when a match has more than one overlay.

  5. Ad Type: No Brands means no ads, and uses Graphics hours. Brands turns ads on, and uses Graphics plus Brands hours.

  6. Enable Ads: this toggle must be on for ads to actually show. Choosing Brands on its own isn't enough.

  7. Theme Profile: sets the look of your graphics, including colours, textures, fonts and animations. Your competition's default profile is picked for you, marked (Default).

  8. Auto Background, Live Background and Encoding Delay: extra display options. Live Background starts at None and Encoding Delay at 0. Leave them as they are unless you know you need to change them.

  9. Auto Mode: when it's on, graphics appear automatically as match events are logged. When it's off, you run them from the Control Room.

  10. Show Primary Watermark and Show Secondary Watermark: show or hide your competition logos (see Watermarks and Auto Background).

Create the overlay

Click Create. Your overlay is added to the match. Expand the match on the Matches table and you'll see it in its own row, with its stream, control mode and ad type. You can change any of these settings later with Configure.

Ads: how Ad Type and Enable Ads work together

  • Brands and Enable Ads on: your ads show on the overlay.

  • Brands and Enable Ads off: no ads show.

  • No Brands: no ads show, whatever the toggle says.

Ads not showing? Check Ad Type is set to Brands, and Enable Ads is on. Also check that you have ads set up in the Ads tab, and enough Graphics plus Brands hours. Your remaining hours show at the top of the Matches page.

Auto Mode or manual?

With Auto Mode on, the work happens for you: as goals, cards and other events are logged in the LiveScore app, the matching graphics come up on screen. It suits matches without a dedicated graphics operator. With Auto Mode off, an operator decides exactly when each graphic goes on and off air from the Control Room. You can switch modes later.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Use templates for a season. If every match in a competition needs the same overlay, set up an overlay template once and pick it here.

  • Check the stream. If the overlay isn't linked to a stream, its graphics won't appear on your LIGR stream.

  • Wrong look? Check the Theme Profile, then use Preview graphics to see your graphics before you go live.
