Texture and font give your graphics their character. Texture adds a pattern to the background of each graphic, and Font sets the lettering for team names and other text. Both settings apply to every graphic in your theme, so you only need to set them once.

Before you start
Your organisation needs the Broadcast Graphics module to work with themes.
Open a theme from Themes > Theme Management so you're in the theme editor on the GRAPHICS & STYLES tab. See Find a theme.
Make sure Theme is selected at the top of the right panel, not Graphic. The Theme toggle changes the whole theme. The Graphic toggle only changes the graphic you have selected.
Set your style and colour first. A texture or font can look quite different depending on the colour behind it. See Choose a style and colour.
Pick a texture
The texture is the pattern that sits inside each graphic, behind the text, in your chosen colour. It adds movement and personality without changing your layout.
In the right panel, open Texture.
Pick a pattern for the background of your graphics. The options are Arrows, Claws, Dots, Jagged Lines, Lines, Map, Slashes, Stars, Stripes, Triangles, Twist and Vertical Stripes.
Check the preview in the middle of the screen. It updates as soon as you pick, so you can try several patterns quickly.
If you want to see the texture as the graphic animates in, click REPLAY ANIMATION under the preview, or turn on Loop Animation to keep it playing.
Two other options are worth knowing:
No Texture gives a flat, solid background. This is the cleanest look and suits simple or minimal designs.
Custom Image lets you use your own image as the texture instead of a LIGR pattern, for example a pattern from your club or competition branding. Choose an image that is subtle and not too busy, so text stays easy to read on top of it.
Pick a font
The font is used for team names and all the other text in your graphics, such as titles, player names, scores and stats.
In the right panel, open Font.
Pick one of the fonts, Font 1 to Font 7.
Look at the preview to see the new lettering on team names, scores and other text.
Some fonts are bold and condensed, others are wider and rounder. Try a few and pick the one that reads best at a glance. A good test is to imagine a viewer catching the scorebug for a second while play is on. If they can read HCF and RVR and the score instantly, the font is doing its job.
One setting for the whole theme
Texture and font apply to every graphic in your theme, so your Scorebug, Lower Third, Match ID, Team Lists and Match Stats all match. This keeps your broadcast looking consistent from the pre-match graphics through to full-time.
After you change either setting, click through the graphics list on the left to check how each graphic looks. Graphics with a lot of text, like Team Lists and Match Stats, are the best test for a font. Graphics with larger background areas, like Match ID, show off the texture the most.
Tips and common mistakes
Readability first. Viewers often watch on phones. If a texture makes text harder to read, try a lighter pattern or No Texture.
Test long names. A wide font can feel cramped with long team or player names. Check a graphic like Team Lists before you settle.
Check texture and colour together. A pattern that looks subtle on a dark colour can look strong on a light one. If you change colour later, recheck your texture.
Need one graphic to differ? You can give a single graphic its own texture or font with Theme Variables on the Graphic toggle. See Style a single graphic.
Save when you're done. Changes show as Unsaved changes until you create the theme profile. See Save your theme profile.
