Create a control room for your theme

Create a control room from the Control Rooms page in Themes, pick the theme it runs on, and get it ready for your operator to put graphics on air.

A control room is where your operator puts graphics on air by hand during a match. Each control room runs on one theme, so the graphics it shows match the look you set up in your theme profile. This article shows you how to create one from the Control Rooms page in Themes.

Before you start

  • Your organisation needs the Broadcast Graphics module. Themes and control rooms are part of Graphics.

  • Create your theme profile first. The control room needs a theme to run on, so it's easiest to set up the profile, then create the control room straight after.

Open the Control Rooms page

  1. Go to the Themes tab.

  2. In the sub-navigation, click Control Rooms.

You'll see a table listing every control room in your organisation. Each row shows the control room's name and the theme it uses, with buttons to edit or delete it. This is a handy place to check which control rooms already exist before you make a new one, so you don't end up with duplicates.

Create the control room

  1. Click CREATE CONTROL ROOM. A pop-up opens.

  2. In Control Room Name, type a name. Pick something your operators will recognise straight away, such as LIGR Demo League Control Room. If you run several competitions or themes, include the competition or theme in the name.

  3. In Theme, choose the theme you want the control room to run on. Select the theme profile you just made so the control room uses your colours, textures, fonts and graphics.

  4. Click Create.

The pop-up closes and your new control room appears in the table, showing the theme it uses. It's ready to set up.

What happens next

A new control room is empty to start with. Before match day, open it and add the graphics your operator will need, such as the scorebug, team line-ups and lower thirds. You can organise them into sections like PRE-MATCH, FIRST HALF and HALF-TIME. See Adding your graphics.

To make the control room the default for your theme profile, open the profile, go to DETAILS & SETTINGS and, under Automation & Control Room, click ASSIGN on the control room row and choose it. Until you do this, the row shows as Unassigned.

Other ways to set up a control room

Generate one from your theme profile

You can also create a control room without leaving the theme profile.

  1. Open the theme profile and go to DETAILS & SETTINGS.

  2. Under Automation & Control Room, find the control room row and click GENERATE.

A new control room is created on your theme and assigned to the profile in one step. It will also appear on the Control Rooms page.

Use a control room you already have

If a suitable control room already exists, click ASSIGN on the control room row in DETAILS & SETTINGS and choose it from the list.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Choose the right theme. The graphics you can add come from the control room's theme library. If you pick the wrong theme, you won't see the graphics you expect.

  • Don't forget to add graphics. A brand new control room has nothing in it, so your operator won't have anything to put on air until you add graphics.

  • One match, different control room. To use a different control room for just one match, change it in that match's overlay settings. See Connecting your control room to a match.

  • Keep names clear. Operators often pick a control room from a list on match day, so a clear name saves time and mistakes.
