Every graphic comes with its own controls, such as which event to show, which team, or a line of text. These come from the graphic's template (in Fuse they're called control variables). On the Variables tab you decide how each control appears to your operator, so they only see what they need.
Open the Variables tab
Click ⋮ on the graphic and select Edit. (When you're adding a new graphic, you're already in this panel.)
Click the Variables tab.
Change the settings, then click UPDATE GRAPHIC.
Variable settings
Setting | What it does |
Variable | The control, as named in the graphic's template. |
Type | The kind of value: STRING (text), BOOLEAN (on or off) or FACT (a match event, such as a goal or card). |
Display Type | How the control looks to the operator, for example a Dropdown to pick from a list, or a Button for a one-click choice like home or away. |
Exit Mode | What the graphic does when this control changes while it's on air. Immediate takes it off straight away and brings it back with the new value. Deferred waits, and the new value shows the next time the graphic comes in. |
Expose | Show puts the control in front of the operator. Hide keeps it out of the way. |
Default Value | The value the graphic uses unless the operator changes it, such as a subtitle that reads "Starting XI". |
Common setups
Graphic | Control | Setup |
Goal, card or substitution lower third | Event | Type FACT, Display Type Dropdown, so the operator picks the event from a list. |
Team lineup | Team | Display Type Button, so home or away is one click. |
Scorebug | Controls you rarely need, like the extra-time clock | Expose Hide, so they stay out of the way until needed. |
Where the operator finds the controls
In the Control Room, click a graphic's row to expand it. Its controls appear there, ready to set before you put it on air.
Good to know: Which controls a graphic has depends on how its template was built. Some, like Invert Team Name, only exist in templates that were built with them. See What Are Control Variables?
