Setting up an Input in LIGR Live

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

An Input is a video source connected to LIGR Live from an encoder such as OBS, vMix, or a hardware encoder, and setting one up is the first step to bringing a live video feed into the platform.

Before You Start

Before setting up an Input, make sure you have:

• An encoder installed and configured on your production machine (e.g. OBS, vMix, or a hardware encoder)

• A stable internet connection with enough upload bandwidth for your chosen stream quality

• A Match created in LIGR Live that the Input will be associated with

• Owner, Admin, User, or Gameday Operator permissions on the Organisation

Creating a New Input

Inputs are managed from the Streaming section of LIGR Live. Follow these steps to create one.

1. In the left sidebar, click the Streaming tab.

2. Open the Inputs area.

3. Click Create Input (or the equivalent add button).

4. Give your Input a clear, descriptive name so it is easy to identify later.

5. Save the Input to generate its connection details.

Naming your Input

Use a name that reflects how the Input will be used, for example:

• The match or competition it is for

• The encoder or camera it is coming from

• The operator or venue it belongs to

Clear naming makes it much easier to pick the right Input when assigning it to a Match.

Connecting Your Encoder to the Input

Once the Input has been created, LIGR Live will provide the connection details your encoder needs to send video in.

1. Open the Input you just created.

2. Copy the RTMP URL and stream key provided.

3. In your encoder (OBS, vMix, or hardware), open the streaming settings.

4. Paste the RTMP URL and stream key into the appropriate fields.

5. Start streaming from the encoder.

6. Return to LIGR Live and confirm the Input is showing as active.

Assigning the Input to a Match

After the Input is receiving video, you can use it for a live broadcast.

1. Go to the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Open the Match you want to stream.

3. In the match setup, select the Input you created as the video source.

4. Save your changes.

5. Open the Control Room or Production Link when you are ready to go live.

Tips

• Test your Input well before the Match start time to confirm video is arriving cleanly.

• Keep stream keys private — anyone with the key can send video to your Input.

• Use the Multiview feature to monitor multiple Inputs at once if you are running several matches.

• Match your encoder's resolution and frame rate to the settings recommended for your Destination to avoid quality issues downstream.

Common Issues

Input shows as offline Check that your encoder is actively streaming and that the RTMP URL and stream key have been entered exactly as shown in LIGR Live.

Video is laggy or dropping frames Your upload bandwidth may not be sufficient. Lower the bitrate in your encoder or switch to a wired internet connection.

Wrong Input appearing in a Match Double-check which Input is selected in the match setup and confirm the naming matches the encoder you are using.

NDI feed not reaching the encoder If you are routing LIGR graphics back into your encoder via NDI, make sure both machines are on the same network and that NDI is enabled in your encoder's settings.
