Duplicating a Theme Instance

Duplicating a Theme Instance in LIGR Live lets you create a copy of an existing customer-level configuration so you can quickly produce a new variation without rebuilding it from scratch.

Understanding Themes and Theme Instances

Themes are platform-level and are built by the LIGR team. Your Organisation receives Themes that have been assigned to it, and you cannot edit a Theme directly.

A Theme Instance is a customer-level configuration of a Theme. It is assigned at the Competition overlay level, under Competition, Settings, Streams and Overlays, Overlay Settings. A single Competition can have multiple overlays, and each overlay can use its own Theme Instance paired with its own Game Plan.

Why Duplicate a Theme Instance

Duplicating a Theme Instance is useful when you want to:

• Create a scoreboard-only variation of an existing full-graphics configuration for a second overlay on the same Competition

• Test configuration changes without affecting a live setup

• Reuse a tested configuration across multiple Competitions

• Create seasonal or sponsor-specific variations based on the same Theme

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

• An existing Theme Instance already configured in your Organisation

• Admin or Owner permissions (standard Users may not have access to Theme Instance management)

• A clear idea of which Competition and which overlay the duplicated Theme Instance will be used on

How to Duplicate a Theme Instance

1. Log in to LIGR Live and open your Organisation.

2. Navigate to the Themes section.

3. Open the Theme that contains the Theme Instance you want to duplicate.

4. Locate the Theme Instance in the list.

5. Open the actions menu on the Theme Instance and select Duplicate.

6. Give the duplicated Theme Instance a clear, descriptive name (for example, add a suffix like "- Scoreboard Only" or "- Test").

7. Save the new Theme Instance.

Reviewing the Duplicated Theme Instance

Once duplicated, open the new Theme Instance and check:

• All configurable graphics options are present and set as expected

• Default graphics selections for each output are correct

• Any linked Game Plan references still point to the intended items

• Sponsor and advertising configuration is appropriate for the new use case (Ad Set Allocations for inbuilt themes, or playlist-based ad entries for Rive themes)

Assigning the Duplicated Theme Instance

After duplicating, assign the new Theme Instance to a Competition overlay so it can be used in Matches:

1. Open the Competition you want to update.

2. Go to Settings, Streams and Overlays, Overlay Settings.

3. Select the overlay you want to configure (or add a new overlay if you are running a second output, such as a scoreboard-only stream).

4. Select the duplicated Theme Instance for that overlay, and pair it with the appropriate Game Plan.

5. Save your changes.

Any new Match created under that Competition will use the duplicated Theme Instance on the overlay it has been assigned to.

Tips

• Always rename duplicated Theme Instances immediately so you don't confuse them with the original.

• Use duplication as a safe way to experiment: make changes on the copy and leave the original untouched.

• If you run dual-output broadcasts (for example, a full media overlay and a scoreboard-only overlay on the same Competition), duplicating a Theme Instance is the fastest way to produce the second configuration.

• Test the duplicated Theme Instance in a non-live Match before using it in production.

Common Issues

• Duplicated Theme Instance looks empty: refresh the page, as configuration sometimes takes a moment to appear in the new Instance.

• Changes to the original appear to affect the duplicate (or vice versa): Theme Instances are independent once duplicated. If you are seeing shared behaviour, confirm you are editing the correct Instance by checking the name at the top of the view.

• Can't find the Duplicate option: check your permission level. Owners and Admins have full access, while standard Users may not see management actions.

• Duplicated Theme Instance not appearing on a Competition: ensure you have saved the Overlay Settings after selecting the new Theme Instance.
