A Theme Instance is a customer-level configuration of a Theme, assigned at the Competition overlay level. It controls how graphics look and behave for matches within that overlay.
What Is a Theme Instance?
Themes are platform-level assets built by the LIGR team. A Theme defines the visual template (colours, fonts, layouts, and animations) for your graphics. Once a Theme has been assigned to your organisation, you can create Theme Instances from it.
A Theme Instance is that Theme applied at the customer level, with its own settings and customisations. Theme Instances are assigned at the Competition overlay level under Competition, Settings, Streams and Overlays, Overlay Settings. A single Competition can have multiple overlays, and each overlay can have its own Theme Instance and its own Automated Game Plan.
This means you can use the same base Theme across multiple Competitions, or across multiple overlays within a single Competition, while tailoring each instance independently. For example, one Theme might be used by several Competitions, but each Competition has its own Theme Instance with different sponsor placements or colour accents.

Before You Start
Make sure you have:
• A Theme assigned to your Organisation by the LIGR team
• A Competition created and ready to receive a Theme Instance
• The correct permission level (Owner, Admin, or User)
Creating a Theme Instance
1. Navigate to the Themes section from the main menu.
2. Select the Theme you want to create an instance from.
3. Choose Create Theme Instance.
4. Give the instance a clear name that identifies the Competition, overlay, or use case.
5. Save your changes.

Configuring a Theme Instance
Once created, open the Theme Instance to adjust its settings. Depending on how the Theme was built, you may be able to customise options such as:
• Primary and secondary colours
• Competition logo and sponsor imagery
• Default graphic positioning and style options
• Other configurable values exposed by the Theme
• Ad Set allocations tied to the Competition (for organisations using inbuilt themes)
Configurable values exposed by the Theme can be adjusted on the instance without changing the underlying Theme, so all Competitions using the same Theme remain independent.

Assigning a Theme Instance to a Competition Overlay
1. Open the Competition from the Competitions section.
2. Go to Settings, Streams and Overlays, Overlay Settings.
3. For the overlay you want to configure, select the Theme Instance you want to apply.
4. Save your changes.
If your Competition has multiple overlays, repeat this process for each overlay, selecting the appropriate Theme Instance for each. All Matches created under this Competition will now use the selected Theme Instances by default.
Updating an Existing Theme Instance
1. Go to Themes and open the relevant Theme Instance.
2. Adjust any configurable values, colours, or assets as needed.
3. Save the changes.
Updates apply to all future Matches under the assigned Competition overlays. For Matches already running live, the production output should be reloaded to reflect the latest configuration.
Tips
• Name your Theme Instances after the Competition and overlay they serve (for example, "Premier League, 2024 Season, Main Broadcast") so they can be identified quickly.
• If multiple Competitions share the same look, you can still create separate instances to keep sponsor and ad allocations isolated.
• Test any Theme Instance changes in a test Match before applying them to a live broadcast.
• Use Theme Instances for Competition-specific values rather than requesting new Themes for small variations.
Common Issues
Graphics still show old branding after updating the Theme Instance Reload the production output to pull the latest Theme Instance configuration.
Theme Instance option is missing when setting up a Competition overlay Confirm that a Theme Instance has been created from a Theme assigned to your Organisation. Check your permission level if you cannot see Theme settings.
Expected configurable values are missing from the Theme Instance Only values exposed by the LIGR team when the Theme was built will appear. Contact LIGR support if you need additional options exposed on a Theme.
Changes to the Theme Instance affect multiple Competitions unexpectedly Check that each Competition overlay has its own dedicated Theme Instance rather than sharing one.
