Add multimedia to an automation playlist

Add an image or video from your Media library to a game plan playlist, set its timing and looping, layer it behind graphics and position it on the canvas.

You can add images and videos from your Media library to any playlist in an Automated Game Plan. This lets the game plan show a sponsor slide, a club video or a holding image automatically, at the right moment, without an operator stepping in.

Before you start

  • You need the Graphics module, because Automation runs on top of your graphics.

  • Create an Automated Game Plan in the Automation tab and open the playlist you want to add to. This could be a pre-match, break, in-game or post-match playlist.

  • Upload the image or video to your Media library first. You can do this in the Multimedia tab. Only media already in the library can be picked here.

Add a multimedia item

Open the multimedia option

  1. Open your game plan and select the playlist you want to work on.

  2. Click Add Item to Sequence. A list of item types appears.

  3. Click Add Multimedia.

Choose your media

  1. Your Media library opens. Browse to the image or video you want to use.

  2. Select it. For example, you might pick a LIGR Demo League sponsor image or a short Harbour City (HCF) promo video.

  3. Click Continue to move on to the item settings.

If you picked the wrong file, go back and choose again before you continue.

Set the timing and looping

  • Start time: when the item begins within the playlist. Use this to line the media up with other items, such as bringing a sponsor image in after a graphic has finished.

  • Duration: how long the item stays on screen. When the duration ends, the media is removed.

  • Loop: turn this on if a video should play again from the start when it reaches the end, so it keeps running for the full duration. Leave it off if the video should play once.

Think about how the duration and the length of your video work together. A short clip with a long duration and looping off will finish early, then leave the rest of the time empty.

Place it behind graphics

Turn on Behind Graphics to place the media underneath your overlays. Your scorebug, lower thirds and other graphics then sit on top of the image or video, so nothing important gets covered.

Leave it off if you want the media to appear above your graphics, for example a full-screen video that should take over the picture.

Position it on the canvas

  1. The settings show a preview canvas of 1920 by 1080, the same size as a full HD broadcast frame.

  2. Drag the media around the canvas to where you want it to appear on air.

  3. Use Grid Snap to keep it lined up neatly. With Grid Snap on, the media snaps to the grid as you drag, which makes it easier to centre it or line it up with the edges of the frame.

Save the item

When you are happy with the settings, click Add Multimedia. The item is added to the playlist sequence and appears on the playlist timeline alongside your other items.

What happens on air

When the playlist runs during a match, such as Harbour City (HCF) v Ridgeview (RVR) at LIGR Demo Stadium, the media appears at its start time, stays for its duration, and loops if you turned looping on. It sits above or below your graphics depending on the Behind Graphics setting, in the position you set on the canvas.

Preview the playlist before match day to check the timing and placement look right.

Tips and common mistakes

  • If you cannot find your file, check it has finished uploading to the Media library.

  • Use images and videos made for a 1920 by 1080 frame for the cleanest result on full-screen items.

  • If your scorebug disappears when the media plays, turn on Behind Graphics so the overlay stays on top.

  • Check start times so a multimedia item does not clash with another item in the same part of the screen.
