Your Overlays on the Matches Table

Read the overlay icon on the Matches table: how many overlays a match has, which are idle, each overlay's stream, control mode and ad type, and when one is on air.

The Matches table tells you the state of every overlay at a glance, without opening anything. You can see how many overlays a match has, whether they're in use, how each one is set up, and which one is on air.

Count your overlays

  1. Go to Matches.

  2. Find the match and look at the Overlays column.

The overlay icon shows how many overlays the match has. In the video, the Harbour City v Ridgeview match has two: Main Feed for the main stream and Big Screen for the screen at LIGR Demo Stadium. If a match has no overlays yet, there are no graphics to put on screen, so add one first.

Check each overlay's status

  1. Hover over the overlay icon.

  2. A pop-up lists every overlay on the match, by name, with its status.

Idle means the overlay isn't in use yet. That's normal before a match: the overlay is set up and ready, but nothing is using its graphics. It's a quick way to check that every feed you expect has an overlay, before you go anywhere near the Control Room.

See how each overlay is set up

  1. Click the arrow on the match row to expand the match.

  2. Each overlay appears in its own row.

Each row shows:

  • Stream: the stream the overlay's graphics go on. If the overlay isn't linked to a stream yet, you'll see No Stream Linked. You can link it later with Configure.

  • Control: the control mode. Auto means graphics appear automatically as match events are logged. Manual means an operator runs them from the Control Room.

  • Overlay: the overlay's name, so you can tell Main Feed from Big Screen.

  • Ad type: Brands (ads on) or No Brands (no ads).

In the video, Main Feed is linked to the Main Camera stream with Brands, and Big Screen has no stream and No Brands. At the end of each overlay's row is a menu with actions such as Control Room, Preview graphics, Links and Configure. The next articles in this series cover each one.

Spot an overlay on air

When an overlay is on air, its icon glows red. An overlay is active when its stream is live on LIGR, or when its production link is being used. The red glow is your signal that viewers can see whatever that overlay shows, so anything you put up in the Control Room goes straight to air.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Expected a red icon but it's still idle? Check that the overlay is linked to the right stream in the expanded row, and that the stream is live.

  • Graphics firing by themselves? Check the Control column. Auto means events logged in LiveScore bring graphics up automatically. Switch to Manual with Configure if you want an operator in charge.

  • Ads not showing? If the Ad type column says No Brands, ads are off for that overlay. Change it to Brands and turn on Enable Ads.

  • Use clear names. When a match has more than one overlay, names like Main Feed and Big Screen make the table much easier to read on match day.
