Overview
The video editor is where you build highlight compilations and edit videos before they go out to your audience. You’ll use the same editor whether you’re polishing a highlight that was automatically created from a match event, assembling a compilation from several clips, or trimming a video you’ve uploaded directly to Multimedia. It brings together media import, a preview player, a trim and arrange toolbar, a multi-track timeline, and an export panel, so you can go from raw footage to a finished, published video without leaving the one screen.
Opening the Editor
There are two ways into the editor, depending on what you’re working with.
If you’re editing a video, go to Multimedia > Videos and open the video you want to work with (upload one first if it isn’t there already). With the video open in full-screen view, click the three dots menu in the top right corner, then select the option to open it in the video editor.
If you’re working with a highlight or a compilation, go to Multimedia > Highlights, find the highlight or compilation, and click Edit Highlight to open it in the editor.
Either way, the editor opens with your content already sitting on the timeline, ready to work with.
Importing Media
The Import Media panel sits on the left of the editor and is where you bring in everything you need to build your video. It’s organised into six types:
• Highlights: pull in existing highlights from this match or others
• Images: add photos, logos, or other still graphics
• Videos: bring in videos you’ve already uploaded to Multimedia
• Transitions: add a transition clip to use between other clips
• Graphics: bring in broadcast graphics such as league tables, fixtures, or match stats
• Audio: add music or sound clips
To add something, click the plus next to the type you want, choose the item from the list, then drag it onto the timeline in the position you want it to play. You can bring in as many items as you need across the six types, and mix them freely on the timeline.
Previewing Your Edit
The preview player sits in the centre of the editor, above the timeline, and shows exactly what your video will look like as you build it. Use the playback controls underneath to play, pause, and scrub through your edit. You can also adjust the playback speed if you want to review a section more slowly or skip through faster, zoom in on the frame to check detail, and switch to full screen for a closer look before you commit to any changes.
Trimming and Arranging with the Toolbar
The toolbar sits directly above the timeline and gives you the tools to shape your clips once they’re in place:
• Copy: duplicate a selected clip
• Split: cut a clip into two separate clips at the playhead
• Text: add a text overlay to your video
• Shape: add a shape overlay to your video
• Crop: crop a clip’s frame
• Delete: remove a selected clip from the timeline
To trim a clip’s length, select it on the timeline and drag either edge in or out. Select any clip first to bring up the toolbar options relevant to it.
Working with the Timeline
Everything you import lands on the timeline as its own track, and each track is a layer in your final video. The bottom track sits behind everything else, so it’s best used for your base footage, your main highlight or video clip. Anything you add above that, graphics, text, images, or audio, layers on top of it in the order the tracks are stacked.
Drag any clip left or right along its track to reposition it in time, or drag it up or down to move it to a different track altogether. Use the zoom control to spread the timeline out for more precise adjustments, especially useful once you’ve got several tracks and clips to line up.
Configuring Your Export Settings
The Settings panel sits on the right of the editor and covers everything you need to check before your video is ready to export:
• Details: set your file name and choose a preset, which controls the aspect ratio and resolution your video exports at
• Video: review the video-specific export settings for your file
• Audio: review the audio-specific export settings for your file
• Broadcast: check any broadcast-specific settings relevant to how the video will be distributed
• Meta Data: add or review metadata attached to the file
• Publish: set where and how the finished video gets published once it’s exported
It’s worth working through each tab before you export, since these settings determine how your finished video looks and where it ends up.
Saving and Exporting
Save Sequence saves your progress as you work, so you can come back to it later without losing anything. It doesn’t create a finished video file on its own, it just keeps your edit safe.
When you’re happy with the result, click Export Video. This renders your edit into a finished video file using the settings you configured in the Settings panel. Exporting runs in the background, so you can navigate away from the editor and keep working on other things while it finishes. Once it’s done, your exported video will be available wherever you configured it to publish.
