Log a goal in LiveScore

Log a goal in LiveScore: tap Goal on the scoring team's side, pick the scorer and save. The score and your graphics update straight away.

Goals are the most important event you log. When a team scores, you record it in a few taps, and the score on your graphics updates the moment you save.

Before you start

  • To pick a scorer, the teams need players. Players are added to each team in the Assets tab of LIGR Live, and the players toggle must be on in the match settings. Without player data you can still log goals by team.

  • Check the line-up in LINEUP before kick-off, so the right players are available and line-up graphics can show.

  • Make sure the clock is running and accurate. The goal is stamped with the period and clock time.

Log a goal

  1. When a team scores, tap the GOAL count on that team's side. Home is on the left, away is on the right.

  2. The GOAL screen opens. The header confirms the team and the time, for example GOAL - HARBOUR CITY and FIRST HALF, 15:00. Check it is the right team.

  3. SHOT ON TARGET is already ticked for you, because a goal also counts as a shot on target. Leave it ticked so your shot stats stay correct.

  4. Pick the scorer from the player list. Each player shows their number, name and position, for example 9 / L. Marsh, Striker. The selected player is highlighted in green. Scroll down to see more players.

  5. Tap SAVE.

You go back to the scoring screen and a message confirms the goal, for example Goal saved · L. Marsh. The score at the top updates, and the GOAL and SHOT ON TARGET counts for that team each go up by one.

Changed your mind before saving? Tap GO BACK to leave the goal screen without logging anything.

What happens after you save

  • Your graphics update. The score on your broadcast graphics, such as the scorebug, updates with it.

  • The goal is added to match history with its time, team and scorer. You can review it any time under HISTORY.

  • The Control Room gets the event. If an operator is running a Control Room for the match, the goal lands in its Events tab, ready to bring up a goal graphic filled in with the scorer.

Time format

Event times use minutes and seconds (MM:SS). For example, 05:30 is 5 minutes and 30 seconds into the match, and 78:15 is 78 minutes and 15 seconds. You will see this format in History and when you edit or add an event.

Fix a goal logged by mistake

  • Wrong team or logged twice, just now: tap UNDO straight away to take back the last event.

  • Wrong scorer or time: open HISTORY, tap the three dots next to the goal and choose Edit. See How to edit match facts.

  • Missed the goal completely: open HISTORY and tap ADD EVENT to add it at the right time. See How to add a missed match fact after the event.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Don't tap SHOT ON TARGET as well. The goal already adds the shot, so tapping the row again counts it twice.

  • Keep up with the score. Log the goal promptly so the score on screen keeps pace with the game. If you are unsure of the scorer, make your best pick and correct it in History at the break.

  • Check for disallowed goals. If the referee rules a goal out after you have saved it, undo it or delete it from History so the score is right.
