Overview
An overlay is the graphics package that displays on top of your stream - scoreboards, player names, statistics, and other visual elements. Each stream can have one overlay assigned to it. You add overlays from the Matches section, either during match creation or after the match has been created.
You'll need to add an overlay before you can display graphics on your broadcast.
How to Add an Overlay to a Match
There are two ways to add an overlay: from the Matches table Actions menu, or from the expanded match view.
From the Matches Table Actions Menu
1. Click the Matches tab in the left sidebar
2. Find the match you want to add an overlay to
3. Click the three-dot Actions menu for that match
4. Select ADD OVERLAY
5. The overlay configuration screen opens
From the Expanded Match View
1. Click the Matches tab in the left sidebar
2. Click the drop-down arrow to expand the match details
3. Click ADD OVERLAY from the bulk actions
4. The overlay configuration screen opens
Overlay Configuration
Once the overlay configuration screen is open, fill in the following settings:
OVERLAY TEMPLATE (OPTIONAL)
Select a template created in Competition Settings to auto-fill settings. If you don't have templates set up, leave this blank and configure manually.
ASSIGN TO STREAM
Select which stream this overlay should be assigned to. If streams already exist for the match, they'll appear in the dropdown. If no streams exist yet, you can create the overlay first and assign it to a stream later.
OVERLAY NAME
Give your overlay a descriptive name. This helps identify it when managing multiple overlays.
AD TYPE
This is a critical setting that determines what appears on your overlay:
* BRANDS: Show your own advertising (requires Graphics and Brands hours)
* FREE TIER: Show LIGR Live advertising (uses Graphics hours)
* NO BRANDS: No advertising shown (uses Graphics hours)
IMPORTANT: If you select BRANDS, you must ALSO enable the "Enable Ads" toggle in Overlay Settings for ads to actually appear. Additionally, you must have sufficient Graphics and Brands hours in your balance - if your balance is low or at zero, ads will not appear on the broadcast.
AUTO BACKGROUND
Toggle on for automatic background graphics.
SHOW PRIMARY WATERMARK
Toggle on to display the primary watermark configured in your competition settings.
SHOW SECONDARY WATERMARK
Toggle on to display the secondary watermark configured in your competition settings.
AUTO MODE
Toggle on for graphics to automatically appear when match events are logged. Toggle off to manually control all graphics from the Control Room.
ADVANCED SETTINGS - CONTROLLER OVERLAY
Assign this overlay as a controller for multiple overlays. This allows you to control graphics on multiple overlays simultaneously from one Control Room. For example, you can show the scoreboard on 5 different overlays at once.
3. Click CREATE to create the overlay
After Creating the Overlay
Once created, the overlay appears in the expanded match view. You can access additional overlay functions from the three-dot menu next to the overlay:
* Control Room: Open the graphic control interface
* Settings: Configure overlay settings and preview graphics
* Configure: Edit overlay configuration
* Links: Copy production URL or monitoring URL
* Reset Overlay Key: Generate new production URL
* Delete: Remove the overlay
Enabling Ads
If you selected BRANDS as your ad type during overlay creation, you must take one additional step for ads to appear on your overlay:
1. From the expanded match view, click the three-dot menu next to the overlay
2. Select Settings
3. Toggle on Enable Ads
4. Save
This toggle must be enabled in addition to selecting the Brands ad type. Without both settings, no sponsor ads will display on the overlay.
Assigning the Overlay to a Stream
If you didn't assign the overlay to a stream during creation, you can do so afterward:
1. Expand the match view in the Matches table
2. Click the white space of a stream row to open the side panel
3. In the OVERLAY ASSIGNMENT section, select the overlay from the dropdown menu
You can also change overlay assignments from the Stream Monitor page (View) or from stream configuration settings (Configure).
Important Notes
* Each stream can have one overlay assigned to it
* An overlay can be reassigned from one stream to another - this will move it, not duplicate it
* The overlay indicator turns red when the overlay is active (either linked to a live LIGR stream OR the production URL is being used in external software)
* If using Auto Mode, graphics will appear automatically when match events are logged in the LiveScore app
* If using Manual Mode, you'll need to manually control when graphics appear from the Control Room
